The Big Leningrad Cowboys Slide Show

Posted by Teddy Osuch on September 20, 2012

This is the last of the Leningrad Cowboy posts.  There are about 140 really fun slides and Iwona and I added a sound track for fun.

More Leningrad Cowboys…

Posted by Teddy Osuch on September 16, 2012

“All You Need Is Love” from their Buena Vodka Social Club album.  Filmed live in Linz, Austria with my Canon T2i using a 55-250mm lense.  Sound sucks because I forgot my shotgun mike in the US…

The Leningrad Cowboys in Linz, Austria

Posted by Teddy Osuch on September 14, 2012

Early in the planning for of our trip to Warsaw, Poland, Iwona introduced me to the videos from a rock group from Helsinki, Finland called the Leningrad Cowboys.  They are delightfully creative and talented performers and I encourage you to look them up on the internet and watch their videos.

We discovered that they were touring Europe and would be playing in Linz, Austria during our stay in Warsaw.  We booked a side trip to Linz and we were on our way to one of the most entertaining performances I’ve ever experienced.

This is a video I took of part of the performance.  Its crude but I think it captures some of the delightful energy of the Leningrad Cowboys.

Sorry About That…

Posted by Teddy Osuch on September 14, 2012

I apologize for the long time that has transpired since I last posted to my blog.  Since I entered Illinois on May 8, 2012, a number of pivotal events have transpired in my life.  I am going to diverge now to one of them.

Eat at Arthur’s

Posted by Teddy Osuch on July 12, 2012

21APR2012 – If in the Kansas City, Missouri area, and you like BBQ, take time to eat at Arthur Bryant’s.  Brilliant BBQ.  Always a queue so be prepared to wait to get your food.

Lucas, Kansas – S.P. Dinsmoor’s Garden of Eden

Posted by Teddy Osuch on July 12, 2012

20APR2012 – A civil war vet named S.P. Dinsmoor built a “log cabin” (actually made of limestone logs) in Lucas which he named the “Garden of Eden” in 1905. He then spent his remaining years working on his garden which contains over 200 concrete sculptures. The Lucas area is beautiful and the garden is worth seeing.

Enter the Great Plains and Windmill Building

Posted by Teddy Osuch on June 24, 2012

18APR2012 – So from Durango, it’s east to southwest Kansas.  Bud told me to look up Mark Miller in Pagosa Springs so I stop there at his fly fishing shop but no one is home.  The ride is beautiful anyway so I ride on to La Junta and now I’m on the Great Plains on a heading to southwestern Kansas. Everything gradually starts to look more desperate.  The region has lots of evidence of a disappearing rural culture.

On the way from La Junta to Dodge City, I came across a new windmill farm under construction.  I took these pictures for Mary Ida.

Durango Part 3 – Ping Pong Fixation

Posted by Teddy Osuch on June 17, 2012

09APR2012 – Bud rigged up a special ping pong table for his Bud and Mike all night ping pong marathons.  Refreshments were way served.  Mike slept in his van in the driveway after this particular night of good wholesome exercise.
